Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP
A remastered and enhanced version of the cult classic Lollipop Chainsaw, featuring improved graphics, gameplay refinements, and new content. Juliet Starling is back to slice and dice her way through hordes of zombies.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP arrives as a much-anticipated revisit to a game that, while divisive upon its initial release, carved a unique niche with its over-the-top action and quirky charm. This remaster aims to amplify those elements while addressing some of the original’s shortcomings. Graphically, the improvement is immediately noticeable. The environments are sharper, the character models more detailed, and the overall presentation is significantly more polished. This updated visual fidelity brings a new level of vibrancy to Juliet’s chainsaw-fueled rampage.
The gameplay remains largely faithful to the original, retaining its satisfying blend of hack-and-slash combat and puzzle elements. Juliet’s arsenal of weapons and her ability to seamlessly transition between melee attacks and ranged weaponry remains a highlight. The addition of some quality-of-life improvements, like a slightly tweaked combat system and a refined camera, enhances the overall experience. While the core gameplay loop might feel familiar to veterans, the refined mechanics offer a smoother, more enjoyable experience, particularly in later, more challenging segments.
However, RePOP isn’t without its flaws. Some of the original game’s jankier elements persist, particularly in certain animations and the occasional camera hiccup. The humor, while undeniably a key component of the game’s identity, might not resonate with everyone. Its often crude and self-aware nature is a double-edged sword, capable of eliciting laughter or rolling eyes, depending on personal preference. The new music tracks, while attempting to maintain the original’s energetic vibe, occasionally feel out of place or lack the same catchy quality.
The inclusion of new content is a welcome addition. While not massively game-changing, the extra scenarios and characters provide a decent amount of additional playtime and further exploration of the already wacky storyline. The updated soundtrack attempts to capture the spirit of the original, but falls slightly short in terms of memorability, although there are some standout tracks that do capture the energy of the original game.
Overall, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a successful remaster that improves upon the original in many key areas. While it doesn’t entirely reinvent the wheel, the graphical enhancements, refined gameplay, and added content make it a worthwhile experience for both newcomers and returning fans. The game retains its quirky charm and over-the-top action, even if some of its rough edges remain. It delivers a solid and entertaining package that stays true to its original vision. I give Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP a 7.8 out of 10. It’s available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

While the improved graphics are a definite plus, RePOP still suffers from the same janky animations and occasional camera issues as the original. The new music is a miss for me – it just doesn’t have the same energy. A decent upgrade, but not a perfect remaster. 6.5/10

As a huge fan of the original, I’m thrilled with RePOP! The graphical update is stunning, and the gameplay refinements make it even more fun. Sure, some of the humor is still a bit much, but that’s part of its charm. A solid 9/10 from me!

I never played the original, but I found RePOP to be a surprisingly fun and unique experience. The combat is satisfying, the story is wild, and the visuals are great for a remaster. The humor is definitely… something else, but it didn’t bother me too much. A solid 7.5/10 – would recommend to anyone looking for something different.
